The Allen Family in the DR

Update from the Allen Family

Derrick, Katie, Ellie, Beckham and Bria Allen

A Note from the Allens

The Allens hope everyone had a blessed Easter celebrating our risen Savior. This year's Easter message focused on the sacrifice of Jesus for the atonement of our sins and the promise of His second coming. Along with the celebration of the resurrection, two members of the church were baptized. One of the men who was baptized has been known by Katie for over 20 years. The family has been praying for him for many years.

2025 has been a busy year with many projects being completed and new ones being planned. The family also celebrated Ellie’s quinceañera with family and friends. So far this year, they have hosted two spiritual retreats for the students of Jarabacoa Christian School and will host one more in a couple of weeks. There has been continued growth in both numbers and spiritual discipleship in the church and youth group.

Praises

  • A teen boy in the youth group, Alejandro, accepted Christ!
  • Progress has been made on projects!
  • There were two baptisms!

Prayer Requests

  • For summer camp planning.
  • For the Haitian community.
  • For wisdom on upcoming projects.
  • For an upcoming trip back to the States to visit and provide updates. They need to find responsible people to run the church and watch their property while they are away, as well as find reasonable ticket prices. They hope to visit at the end of this summer.

Summer Camp 2025

Planning for this year's summer camps has begun. In previous years, they have held various sports and Bible camps. The types of camps offered often depend on the skills of teams, families, or individuals who come to help. Summer camps typically run from the beginning of June through the end of July or early August. An Amazon wishlist for camp needs will be available soon.

They are extending an invitation to supporters and churches to come and work alongside them this summer. If you are interested in coming down as a team, with family, friends, or by yourself, please reach out to them to discuss the best options.
